Yesterday, I was shocked to see google search results, not because i was searching for something awwful but the results were shocking indeed. I searched for “bbc” and ahh what’s that “bbc” site is marked as a harmful site, oh comeon. I tried it again and found that all google search results were marked with the same warning message “this site may harm your computer”. Even results pointing to Google pages were marked as harmful. I clicked the link and was taken to a 502 Server Error page. I quickly ran a search on msn with keywords “google hacked” at that time I was just thinking of two things; either my system was infected or the giant search engine’s popularity has paid off to hackers.
Well, I was not the only one experiencing this, while I was searching for the real problem, hundreds of people were already discussing whether it’s a virus attack or google has been really hacked, the day passed and then I came across an official google blog which actually revealed what had exactly happened. Neither google was hacked not it was a virus attack it was simply a human error. “Simply a human error” I think this is the first time ever, the most popular search engine in the world has malfunctioned.
